Before you place a wholesale order, it helps to know how the product is made and who stands behind each step. This post follows our loofah from the farm to the export carton. It covers what we do ourselves, how we check the goods, and what you can ask us to change for your own order.
We are EGEXO For Export, a family-run manufacturer and exporter of natural Egyptian loofah in Damanhour, Egypt. We have been exporting since 2015.
Where the loofah grows
Our loofah comes from our own farms and from partner farms in the Nile Delta. The plant is Luffa aegyptiaca, the Egyptian loofah. It is a plant fibre, and all loofah is 100% biodegradable.
The farms use pesticides lightly. Loofah does not require heavy pesticide or fertilizer. We do not describe it any further than that, because we want every line on this page to be true.
Drying
After harvest the loofah must be dried. We dry it by sun drying and by machine drying. Dryness matters to every buyer who packs and ships loofah over a long distance. This is why dryness is one of the three things we check by hand before packing.
Our own factory
The loofah is processed in EGEXO’s own factory in Damanhour. Having one factory under our control means we decide how each product is made, and we can answer questions about it. The factory team does all the manufacturing.
The same company makes the goods, checks them and ships them. When you ask a question about a product, the answer comes from the people who know how it was made, and your order stays with one exporter from the first quote to the last carton.
Our products are made in many shapes. The range includes:
- Body sponges in oval, rectangle and round shapes.
- Exfoliating gloves and double-sided mitts.
- Back scrubbers, including a belt and a stick.
- A heel scrubber and a round wooden handle scrubber.
- Makeup remover pads and a soap bag with rope.
- Kitchen pads, a kitchen cup stick and loofah scrap sold by the kilo.
- Whole raw loofah, raw loofah with rope and raw loofah rings.
- Spa slippers.
Where a product has fabric, edges, a rope or a strap, these parts are 100% cotton. We do not offer a polyester option. Soft Egyptian loofah with 100% cotton parts is what we offer our buyers.
Bleaching and colour
We do not usually bleach loofah. Our standard loofah is not bleached. Bleaching is done only on request. Dyed loofah colours, such as pink or blue, are also possible on request as a custom order.
Checks before packing
Every order is checked by hand. There are three checks.
- Quality: we look at the colour, holes and defects.
- Size: pieces are sorted and measured to the product size.
- Dryness: we check that the pieces are dry before they are packed.
This is a hand check by our team. We do not run lab tests as a routine step. If you want lab tests for your market, we do them on request, and the buyer pays the cost. We also give buyers the product details and declarations they need.
If any item is faulty, we replace it with your next order.
Safety at work and the management system
EGEXO’s management system is certified to ISO 45001:2018, the standard for occupational health and safety management. It is also certified to ISO 9001:2015 for quality and ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management. Our good manufacturing practices are certified to ISO 22716:2007.
These certificates cover how the company is run. They do not mean the loofah itself carries an ISO mark. The certificates were issued by ABS Global and can be checked at absglobals.com/en/validation.
Packing and shipping
We always compress loofah before shipping. Even compressed, loofah takes up a lot of space, so we plan the cartons with care. Standard cartons of the oval body sponge hold 700 pieces. Loofah scrap ships on pallets of 15 kg each.
Lead time is 7 to 25 days from payment, depending on the quantity and the orders in process. Up to 5 pieces per product are ready in 2 days. Custom and private label orders take longer than standard products, and we confirm the time with the quote.
We export from all Egyptian ports and airports. Prices are in US dollars, EX-Works Damanhour. We also quote CFR, CIF and DAP, by sea, air or express. FOB and DDP are available only on request.
Private label and custom orders
Private label options include embroidered logo labels, printed labels, hang tags and custom packaging. EGEXO designs the packaging layout from a logo, an idea or a reference. Private label starts from 1,000 units, and options cost extra.
If you cannot find what you need, we make it to your design. We can make any shape that can be made with loofah. For handles we use what the current range shows: a wooden handle or a stick.
Order sizes
There is no minimum order on standard products. Our public capacity is up to 100,000 units a month. We have exported to more than 40 countries and have more than 400 customers.
What you can ask us to change
Most buyers start with a standard product and then ask for a change. Here is what we can do on request.
- A different size or shape, made from loofah, to your design.
- Your logo on an embroidered or printed label, or on a hang tag.
- Custom packaging, with the layout designed by us from your logo, idea or reference.
- Packaging text in French, Spanish, or English and French together, from the text you send.
- Bleached loofah, or dyed colours such as pink or blue, as a custom order.
- Lab tests for your market, paid by the buyer.

From the farm to your warehouse
Here is the full path of one order, in plain steps.
- The loofah is grown on our own farms and partner farms in the Nile Delta.
- It is dried by sun drying and machine drying.
- It is processed in our own factory in Damanhour and made into the products you ordered.
- Each order is checked by hand for quality, size and dryness.
- The goods are compressed and packed in cartons.
- The export papers are prepared. A Certificate of Origin or EUR.1 goes with every export order except express ones.
- The goods leave Egypt by sea, air or express.
Sea freight in a full container takes 18 to 25 days to France and 25 to 30 days to the USA. Air takes 2 to 3 days to the destination airport. Express door delivery takes 4 to 7 days.

Buyer visits to EGEXO are welcome, if arranged in advance. Video calls are offered after your first order is confirmed. Samples are paid, and the buyer pays shipping. Standard samples ship within 2 days and custom samples within a week. The sample cost is credited to your first order of $1,000 or more, placed within 60 days.
We reply to quote requests within 24 hours. Tell us the products, the quantities and your country, and we will send a quote.
